Fritillaria 'Lentune Lynx'

F.  pinardii x (aurea x pinardii)

The result of pollinating Fritillaria pinardii with Fritillaria (aurea x pinardii). The seed was sown in September 2011 and this clone was singled out in 2018.

The sowing resulted in many and varied clones all of which look plausible as progeny of the intended parents - bearing in mind that wasps can easily intervene in the pollination process to spoil my intentions! This particular clone has a strong pinardii influence (reflecting its 75% pinardii parentage) but has a larger flower than its seed parent and a clear affinity with the pollen parent.

Seed parent(F. pinardii)

Sourced from Janis Ruksans in 2007.

Janis' catalogue tells us “My stock is coming from Bozkir in Turkey, where it was collected at 1640 m (RIGA-032)”.

RIGA is R (Ruksans) I (Indra Seisums) G (Guna Ruksans) A (Arnis Seisums).

Pollen parent(F. aurea x pinardii)

Sourced from Kath Dryden around the turn of the millennium. Kath's catalogue provided no information about provenance. The literature contains various references to this hybrid (both natural and man-made).

In conclusion: I think my plant is Rix1602 but cannot be certain.
